What are the diagnostic criteria for diabetic ketoacidosis?
Ketoacidosis can be categorized into 3 conditions according to its degree: mild, moderate and severe. Mild PH <7.3 or bicarbonate <15mmol/L; moderate PH <7.2 or bicarbonate <10mmol/L; severe PH <7.1 or bicarbonate <5mmol/L, the latter is easy to go into coma. Blood glucose is mostly in the range of 16.7~33.3mmol/L, sometimes up to 33.3~55.5mmol/L. Urine ketone is strongly positive, when combined with renal dysfunction, ketone bodies can not be excreted by the urine, therefore, although ketoacidosis occurs, but urine ketone bodies are negative or only a trace. Blood ketone measurement using nitroprusside method, is currently recognized as blood ketone <0.6mmol / L is normal, blood ketone >5mmol / L has diagnostic significance.
